In this spring’s youth class, Lost & Found, participants will create, discuss and explore the processes and concepts behind taking something old to make something new.

Students will actively look for footage, sound, objects and words to deconstruct and reassemble into new works of art with new contextual meaning. Students will collage together different tactile media materials: 16mm footage, online footage, found sounds and field recordings, still photographs and more. We will explore the techniques and historical examples of media art created with found objects and throughout the course create new personal works of our own, go on walks and scavenger hunts, make collages, create sampled music, video art and direct animation. All of these activities will culminate to a final screening and exhibition at the end of the semester.

The class will meet 2 hours a week on Wednesdays from 4:30-6:30 PM for 12 consecutive weeks beginning March 4. The class is free and open to youth ages 12-19. All supplies provided by EPFC. This semester’s instructors are Danny Louangxay, Ellie Parker, Miko Revereza and Mike Stoltz.

A mandatory orientation session for all interested students and their parent/guardian will take place at Echo Park Film Center on Monday, March 2 at 7:30 pm.
