Each year, EPFC partners with dozens of organizations to present free film/video screenings and workshops for people of all ages across Los Angeles and around the world!

LA AIRport at Glendale Community College

EPFC partnered with the GCC Film Club in May 2019 to present a two-day Intro To Super 8 workshop that invited students to shoot and process their own analog films.

EPFC in residence at Camera Obscura Art Lab

The EPFC Co-op was in residence at the City of Santa Monica’s amazing Camera Obscura Art Lab for a month in late 2018, presenting a series of all-ages workshops based on the theme Devices of Wonder that included Super 8 cinematography and eco processing,  Cinematic Stocking Stuffers, Cyanotypes, and even a Make Your Own Camera Obscura class! The Co-op also worked with community members to create a collaborative film celebrating the Camera Obscura’s 120th birthday.

Earth Day with Global Glow

On Earth Day, 2017, the Echo Park Film Center and Global Glow presented Cinema Organica at La Culebra in Highland Park. Participants shot Super 8 film and developed it using plants and flowers from the garden! Program support provided by The Adamma Foundation and the Eastside Arts Initiative.

LACMA After Dark

For the fall 2014 edition of LACMA After Dark, an interactive museum experience for LA teens, EPFC facilitated hands-on workshops that explored expressionist techniques referenced in the exhibition Haunted Screens: German Cinema in the 1920s.

Out The Window

EPFC worked with LA Freewaves, Public Matters and UCLA RE:MAP to launch a series of youth and artist-made experimental and documentary videos shown on 2200 Metro LA buses. 2011-2014.

Levi’s Film Workshop

Echo Park Film Center partnered with Levi’s and MOCA Contemporary to facilitate a four-month interactive community film workshop space as part of MOCA’s Out In The Streets exhibit. MOCA Geffen Contemporary. May–August 2011.

 

YAM FEST

Launched in 2010, the Youth Arts and Media Festival (YAM) celebrates LA youth culture with one-day events featuring films, photos, fine art, music, poetry, dance and workshops.

Skirball Museum

The Skirball inaugurated its Our California initiative during the summer of 2005 with City of Angels, an illuminating compilation of some twenty films produced by teenage students of the Echo Park Film Center. Created during a ten-week program, these short works examine and celebrate the students’ neighborhood and family histories as well as the local and global issues that inform and impact them. Together the films serve as a document of the cultural diversity and heritage of our city and beyond.
