Dear Diary: What if women ruled the world? We asked this question as a starting point to re-examine the history of non-fiction filmmaking. Using only works made by women-identified artists and filmmakers, we focused on viewing and discussing works that emphasize personal lived experiences and perspectives as the source for art. We watched works along the spectrum of non-fiction filmmaking, from experimental to diaristic, and from the observational to documentary. Students in the class each produced their own non-fiction personal Super 8 films, discovering how their own lives and experiences can be a powerful source for making art. The event will begin at 5 pm with a potluck dinner; screening starts at 6 pm. FILMMAKERS IN ATTENDANCE! FREE EVENT!
