THE ANIMATED WOMAN WORKSHOP: Tropes, Teaching and Tests… Knowing the 3 T’s for Gender Equity in Animation

Join us on a journey of discovery into the subtle ways gender bias can be inserted into animated media and how to spot them! We will discuss how reoccurring narratives, character traits, designs and methods keep us stuck in the “wholesome” days of yore when female characters upheld gender norms. Throughout the workshop we will learn and practice ways of spotting them, calling them out, and even generate some of our own statistics. We’ll also do some animating ourselves and play a fiery round of Trope Bingo! This is a great workshop for educators and anyone dealing with animation and/or media.
