PLAYTIME ITINERANT SHOWCASE OF EXPERIMENTAL SPANISH CINEMA – 10th ANNIVERSARY

Thursday, May 11 at 8 PM

-Visiones Contemporáneas-
Últimas tendencias del cine y el video en España

-Contemporary Visions –
New cine and video in Spain

This project is curated by playtime audiovisuales (Natalia Piñuel and Enrique Piñuel), based at the DA2 Museum of Contemporary Art of Salamanca, devoted to new trends of film and video in Spain.

The present contemporary Spanish audiovisual –understanding contemporary as risky proposals away from commercial circuits– is experiencing a great time on the production level, thanks to a new generation of authors who are experimenting with images and standing up for engaging issues. But even though many of these authors are getting great international recognition, most of them are still unknown to the public.

We saw the need of creating a place with the mission of sharing these works. Contemporary Visions Room is a space for non-fiction films, essays, video art, video dance, found-footage films and performative documentation.

This 2017 we celebrate five years of curating this project, and it feels like the right time to take these works beyond the Spanish borders and present the project for the first time in the US. Discover new art and artists, and enjoy this adventure in LA with us!

This program is a special compilation with works by Laida Lertxundi, Eli Cortiñas, Chus Dominguez, Regina de Miguel, Eloy Domíngez Séren, Left Hand Rotation and MOMU & No ES.

The curators Natalia Piñuel and Enrique Piñuel, plus the prestigious filmmaker Laida Lertxundi will be IN PERSON at the screening offering a presentation + Q&A

Doors 7:30 pm; admission $5 at the door. All profits will go to the EPFC.
