Material Immaterial – POSTPONED

PLEASE NOTE: THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL MAY. A NEW DATE WILL BE ANNOUNCED SOON.

Material Immaterial is a series of related works by Cherlyn Hsing-Hsin Liu and Michael Pisaro that explore the movement from the corporeal to the incorporeal. It incorporates two short 16mm films, a mixed-media video, a performance for two live microphones and a new sound-image collaboration called burnt rose.

burnt rose is a 30-minute work which encompasses digital projection, sine tones,16mm film, electric guitar, molcajete and painting (water ink on paper, rose pigment). It engages the vibrant materiality of flower pigment, hand-made paper, grinding materials, and light and sound vibration. The nine stages of the piece arose from the organic behavior of roses under a set of heating and drying conditions.
