LOST IN SPACE: 16mm Landscape Films by Bill Brown and Sabine Gruffat

EVENT POSTPONED… WE WILL LOOK FORWARD TO WELCOMING BILL AND SABINE IN 2018!

Friday, November 10 at 8 PM

Doors 7:30; $5 admission

Lonesome drifter Bill Brown rides into LA with sarsaparilla, spittin’ tobacco, and 16mm films in his saddle bags. Bill will show a collection of work, old and new, at the Echo Park Movie Saloon. The night will begin with a BRAND NEW 16mm print (first one in 20 years!) of his golden oldie, ROSWELL (1995, 20 min.), a movie about space aliens and time travel in New Mexico. Next up will be the WEST COAST PREMIERE of a new movie Bill made with artist Sabine Gruffat called AMARILLO RAMP (2017, 24 min.) about sculptor Robert Smithson’s last earthwork, a UFO launching pad he built in Amarillo, Texas (just up the road from Roswell!). Finally, Bill will screen a 16mm print of THE OTHER SIDE (2006, 40 min.), a film about a trip Bill took along the US/Mexico border 10 years ago during the administration of a president who wants to build a border wall. FILMMAKER IN ATTENDANCE!

The party starts with a musical performance by LA’s own LOS GATITOS celebrating their first 7″ record Big In Puglia!
