Join us for a screening of two of Doane’s works- Polar Sun and Gently, Jennifer. The films will conclude with a public conversation between the filmmaker and Valerie Marrowbone, followed by a Q&A and reception.

Writer/Director Doane Avery is a filmmaker whose stories focus on feminine, queer, and Indigenous character-driven narratives that seek to blend cinematic realism with surreal and musical moments. Doane was selected as a fellow for the Sundance Institute + IAIA Native Writers Workshop, and received an MFA in Film Directing from the California Institute of the Arts. She has worked on the critically acclaimed TV series’ Transparent, and I Love Dick. She is from the Pacific Northwest, is of Inupiaq descent, and lives in Los Angeles. FILMMAKER IN ATTENDANCE!
