On her very first visit to Los Angeles, Argentinian filmmaker Melisa Aller joins us for a very special International Women’s Day screening of her experimental Super 8 films.  An experimental filmmaker and visual artist, in recent years Aller has been working particularly in the Super 8 format, filming and editing all on camera without any intervention from the digital. In 2015, she filmed her first feature film edited in camera and chronologically using 22 rolls of film. The result, Las Decisiones Formales, is an exploration of life as a trans person in contemporary argentina where despite the unique advances in the recognition of civil and political rights of the LGBTQ community, “there remains the challenge of ensuring social and labor inclusion for the collective Trans.” Also on the bill are short films Superbia, Metria and Afirmar Con Ello Otro Mundo.
