Juan Gabriel in “Del Otro Lado Del Puente”

This Día de los Muertos, join us as we honor Mexico’s beloved and prolific singer-songwriter Juan Gabriel on the big screen!

“Del Otro Lado Del Puente” (1980) starring a young Juanga beautifully and melodically captures the struggle, zeal, and community of Chicanos in 1980’s Los Angeles. Gabriel plays Alberto “Beto” Molina who returns to LA with fresh eyes after spending his formative years in Juárez.

As a student at UCLA living “on the other side of the bridge,” Beto navigates his way through the social and political inequalities of the time which unfortunately, 36 years later, are still very relevant within the Chicano community.

This film is mostly in Spanish with some English and Spanglish and does not contain subtitles. All are encouraged to attend.
