Introduction to Color Correction and DaVinci Resolve

WORKSHOP FULL! CHECK BACK FOR FUTURE OFFERINGS!

Sunday, August 12: 12 – 5 pm

Learn the basics of DaVinci Resolve 14 Lite: a free (but very powerful) color correction software.

Color correction is often an elusive subject when it comes to independent filmmaking. Directors and Cinematographers have a vision for the images they produce and a Colorist will use their expertise to bring it to fruition. Balancing exposures, adjusting skin tones and setting a tone are some of the ways a Colorist polishes a film to give it that extra *something* that sets it apart from the rest!

This 5 hour workshop will include a brief introduction to color theory and it’s application it to modern day filmmaking. Each participant will be provided with a laptop loaded with DaVinci Resolve 14 and test footage. Participants will learn how to set up a project in Resolve, ingest media, apply color correction and export final deliverables.

The core of this workshop is color correction so we’ll be focusing on balancing exposures shot-to-shot, as well as adjusting skin tone and white balance. After learning the basics of shot-to-shot correcting, participants will have a chance to create their own “look” for the scene based on the examples and techniques shown in class.

So if you’re an artist working with the film medium or an independent filmmaker who wants to learn more about this process, join us and take your films to the next level with your newfound knowledge in color correction!

Class is limited to 7 participants.Follow up resources on color will be provided to participants at the end of class.
