Handmade Titles for Handmade Films
2 Consecutive Tuesday nights, 7 – 10 pm, beginning May 21
The name of your film distinguishes and characterizes it. How, then, do you incorporate it into the story? As a work of art woven seamlessly into your production edit? As its very own, handmade title sequence…that’s how! In this class, we’ll take a ride through the history of titles and their intrinsic value to storytelling. We’ll then move into practice: constructing a short title sequence for a film you’ve made, are making or dream of making. No design experience necessary. A familiarity with Photoshop preferred. Playfulness required. Enrollment limited to 6 participants.
Instructor: Ventura Castro
Ventura Castro is a motion designer, producer and director. Borne out of antique stores and parking lots in Hackensack, NJ — he became enamored with nostalgic, gritty and hodgepodged imagery… later attending NYU for Cinema Studies and Motion Design to center his attention on the images that dress the moving images. Most recently, he was the Creative Director for MSNBC & NBC News. At the same time, he’s the Producer/Director of Motionographer’s F5 — a creativity festival exploring the intersection of art, design and entertainment. Launching soon: a design and animation studio — PPLSEA — focused on making playful work for serious brands and causes.
