FROM HANOI WITH LOVE

SATURDAY, JULY 4 AT 8 PM

Join visiting Vietnamese filmmakers and architects Kim Duc and Nguyen Dat as they present two films celebrating Hanoi, Vietnam.

Forever Young follows the evolution of Think Playgrounds, a project started in 2013 as a volunteer group to create free playgrounds for Hanoi kids. Sparked by an idea for a turtle slide by visiting Angeleno Judith Hansen and the lack of playspace in the urban center, Think Playgrounds has created several free playground and play events in Hanoi with the concept now spreading to other provinces in Vietnam.

A collaboration between Hanoi Doclab and Echo Park Film Center, The Sound We See: A Hanoi City Symphony invited 18 Vietnamese filmmakers to document the life, rhythm and movement of Hanoi from their unique perspectives to create a complete 24-hour City Symphony. The filmmakers divided the day into its two-dozen hours, and then shot locations that best represented each hour of the day (and night) as one minute on film. The result is a spectacular 24-minute trip through the city with musical score by celebrated Vietnamese musicians Luong Hue Trinh, Tri Minh and friends. FILMMAKERS KIM DUC AND NGUYEN DAT IN ATTENDANCE.
