Film Friends: Series Continues June 11 with Ieva Belode and Lāsma Bērtule

Film Friends is a monthly series that brings established and emerging filmmakers together online for informal discussions on everything analog cinema. Season 2’s theme is Simple Machines. Zoom in on June 11 at 10 AM Pacific Time as our series continues with a discussion about artist-run labs with BAL‘s Ieva Balode and Lāsma Bērtule from Rīga, Latvia. Free event! All welcome!

Ieva Balode (born in 1987, Riga, Latvia) is an artist and photochemical film activist. With her works she takes part in international exhibitions and festivals presenting her work both in installation, as well as cinema and performance situation. As a film activist she is a founding member of Baltic Analog Lab – artists collective providing a space and platform for photochemical film production, research and education. She is also a director of experimental film festival “Process” happening in Riga from year 2017.

Lāsma Bērtule lives in Riga, Latvia where she makes her own films and helps to show and preserve films made by others. She is a member of Baltic Analog Lab collective and one of the organizers and curators at Process Experimental Film Festival.

Baltic Analog Lab is an artist collective and filmlab based in Riga, Latvia. It was founded in 2016. Uniting filmmakers and photographers interested in analog film and photography, Baltic Analog Lab aims to produce, teach and inspire an audience by providing a space for creation, learning and teaching.
