COTTON ROAD

SATURDAY, MAY 9 at 8 PM

Echo Park Film Center celebrates the birthday of filmmaker Helen Hill with a feature film from South Carolina! Americans consume nearly twenty billion new items of clothing each year, and at least one billion of them are made in China. COTTON ROAD follows the transnational movement of cotton from rural farms in South Carolina to factory cities in China, and tells the stories of workers’ lives in this global supply chain. Provocative and beautifully shot, this remarkable documentary provides an opportunity to reflect on how our consumption drives a global economy.  DIRECTOR LAURA KISSEL WITH CURATOR (AND HELEN’S MOTHER) BECKY LEWIS IN ATTENDANCE!
