CHICK FLICK: FILMS BY LISA g NIELSEN
Thursday, August 24 at 8 pm
Doors 7:30 pm; $5 admission.
Chick Flick is a slang term, most often used dismissively, for the film genre in which a woman is the protagonist and with the target audience being female. Lisa g thinks Chick Flick is something to strive for. Tonight, she shares some old and new works – super 8, 16mm and animation.
Lisa g is a founding member of the Iris Film Collective in Vancouver BC Canada and has been working within the moving picture medium since 1995. She most enjoys creating work that has historical reference & social relevance. She has recently completed a video/film installation at the new nə́c̓aʔmat ct strathcona library in Vancouver celebrating the Musqueam people and their language and culture. In July 2017, she is involved in a residency/collaboration using archival eBay purchased 16mm footage, sound and awkward looping technologies to comment on a women’s place – past, present & future… FILMMAKER IN ATTENDANCE!
Program support provided by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.
