Carlos Gonzalez is an American DIY legend, having performed for the better part of the last 15 years in basements, public parks, and storage units as RUSSIAN TSARLAG, and published comics titles such as SLIME FREAK, TEST TUBE, and LOST CANYON.

Equally as intriguing as his musical performances and drawings are the movies he has been making for nearly as long. Utilizing a giant cast of non-actor collaborators, these pieces often work as a kind of allegory for the life of an underground performer. Shot and edited entirely in-camera and screened on arcane VHS technology, each of his videos exists as a single tape, never to be dubbed or uploaded, a unique object in themselves.
