Doors 6:30 pm; sliding scale / suggested donation of $18 for our 18th birthday!
Celebrate 18 years of the Echo Park Film Center!
Live musical performances from 7-8 pm.
At 8pm the films begin with world premieres of Super 8 films commissioned by EPFC from Terry Long & Sharlene Bamboat, Linda Scobie, Kerstin Hovland & Christy Heyob, Sidney Williams, Sarah Walsh, Rick Venable, Adrian Saenz, and Curt Heiner.
We’ll celebrate the work of our dear friend Haruko Tanaka, who we lost this year, by screening her work The Soroban and the Present, made while she was LA AIR artist-in-resident in 2015.
See the films made by our 2019 LA AIR residents Troyese Robinson, Darol Kae, Arshia Haq, and Andre Keichian, then find out who will be in-residence in 2020 as we introduce them through screenings of their previous work!
Film archivist Mark Toscano presents a mystery program of archival experimental 16mm films in a special hour-long presentation of his on-going series Remains to Be Seen.
Plus films and videos by members of the EPFC family, including Nesanet Abegaze, Dicky Bahto, Marco Kane Braunschweiler & Jheanelle Brown, Brenda Contreras, Caitlin Díaz, Lisa Marr, Chloe Reyes, Jennifer Saparzadeh, Mike Stoltz, and more!
