Festivals We Love: Images

Started in 1987, Toronto’s artist-run Images Festival continues to push the envelop on what a film festival can and should be. This year’s iteration includes powerful work by current EPFC Co-op Member Eve-Lauryn LaFountain and former EPFC Youth Film Instructor Thorbjorg Jonsdottir in a shorts program entitled Interior Mythologies; check out the full program and all the details here!

 

Festivals We Love: San Diego Underground Film Festival

The 2018 San Diego Underground Film Festival runs August 23 – 26 at the Tenth Avenue Arts Center in downtown San Diego, CA, and feature screenings and expanded cinema events by tons of fabulous filmmakers including EPFC La Famiglia faves Karissa Hahn, Charlotte Pryce, Beaux Mingus, Lily Noyes, Heather Trawick,, and Jael Jacobo & Ezequiel Guido… See ya there!

“San Diego Underground Arts is an artist-run non-profit organization that offers San Diego a nurturing alternative to the mainstream media by promoting experimentation in video, film, and audio based mediums. Through the practice and knowledge of film and film making techniques, we strive to cultivate a supportive, inclusive, informed, and empowered community for the exhibition of innovative underground media and experimental art.

FESTIVALS WE LOVE: THE 8 FEST

What is the coziest, kookiest, coolest small-gauge film festival in the world? It’s the 8 fest!

“The 8fest is a festival for anyone using small-gauge to create rough little gems on film. A unique Toronto-based film festival that presents all forms of small-gauge film: 8mm, Super 8 and 9.5mm, as well as works in installation, loops, personal, handmade, experimental, animations, diaries, essays, collage, cut-ups, performance/film, music/film and ‘proto-cinema devices’ like zoetropes.”

You too can be part of the magic… submissions are due September 30 for the 2018 festival, happening in Toronto on January 25 – 28. More info here!

LIGHT FIELD CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS!

Light Field is an international exhibition of recent and historical moving image art on celluloid, held in the San Francisco Bay Area. Light Field is artist-run and collectively organized.
